Review Tomato
Why

Reviews are the part you should look forward to.

Right now, for most merchants, they're not.

We've watched a lot of Shopify founders open their reviews app and visibly tense up. It's the moment they're supposed to enjoy - a real customer just said something about their product. Instead, they're squinting at a dense table of 2014-styled cards, hunting for the moderation action they wanted to take.

That's the gap. The category leader - Judge.me - gets the Shopify-native part right. They show what Shopify merchants actually need: breakdowns, photos, verified buyers. But the visual design hasn't moved in a decade.

On the other end, Loox looks great if your store is photo-heavy. Okendo is sharp if you're enterprise-y. Yotpo can do anything but feels like 14 features stitched together with seam-tape. And every single one of them has a pricing page that says "Contact us for Pro."

What we wanted

An app that pairs Judge.me-grade Shopify-native breadth with the product taste you get from Linear, Notion, or Stripe. Where the moderation queue feels like a place you'd actually want to spend five minutes. Where the storefront widget reads like it belongs to your brand, not to the app that made it. Where the customer emails go out under your name, with your logo and your color, and where AI quietly does the boring parts without ever taking the credit.

And - most importantly - an app you can plan a business around. Free tier that's actually free. Growth plan at a price a small store can afford. Scale plan that makes power-tools available without "Contact sales."

The bet

We're betting that brand-conscious DTC merchants will care about all of this. That the polish gap between "Shopify default" and "this feels like a real product" is bigger than people think - and that closing it is enough to win.

We're not the cheapest. We're not the most feature-rich. We're not the enterprise-grade. We're not the most minimal. We are - for the merchant who treats their store like a brand - the obvious choice.
